WE CAN’T WAIT TO SHARE THIS PERFORMANCE-RITUAL WITH YOU!
So much has gone into These are the bodies that have not borne. and we’re just about ready to invite witness-participants into our ritual. Here’s a look at what we’ve been up to:
Original composition by Mankwe Ndosi
This year, we’ve had the absolute pleasure of collaborating with music maker and culture weaver, Mankwe Ndosi, on an original composition. The score beautifully layers the dancers’ voices as they offer incantations that have been created and curated throughout the process—baby dreams, uterine stories, ambivalence, and more. We truly cannot wait to share Mankwe’s magic with you! Read more about Mankwe’s work here.
These are the bodies… Zine Production
A whisper. A seed. An archive. We’re pleased to annouce that we’re making a ‘zine! The ‘zine centers the experiences of those of us who have not birthed a child through our bodies through archives of our performance-ritual and through recipes, collages, essays and more from our community. This self-published ‘zine is a seed of healing for our bodies and this planet. It is a manifesto, a reclaiming of space and a reminder to ourselves and each other in the pastpresentfuture, that we are here. More details coming soon!
