An all-star roster of artists, including MBDance, help the CUNY Dance Initiative (CDI) celebrate five years as a groundbreaking model for support in the dance field.
We are sharing Up and Down Her Back, our new danced and spoken trio of immense physicality, play, nuance, and resourcefulness. Drawing on creative traditions including The Dozens and The Tall Tale, Up and Down Her Back is a foray into stories as identity-creators. The dancers imagine themselves into their desired being-hood using multiple modes—from testifying to lying, from myths to sacred narratives. Up and Down Her Back is part of a larger MBDance work-in-progress which is being developed through the Artist in Residence initiative at Brooklyn Arts Exchange.
The CDI 5th Anniversary Festival runs March 20-23, 2019 and includes a fantastic line-up, including Ephrat Asherie Dance and Kinesis Project. Catch MBDance on March 21 & 23!
