Desire: A Sankofa Dream, created and directed by Maria Bauman-Morales is a performance-ritual built around Black Queer survival techniques developed long before our current pandemic but wholly relevant as we try to survive and thrive in this time of sickness, anger, isolation and insistence on improved ways of life.
We have a premiere date! We have a website! We have ways to come to your community with the artwork! Desire: A Sankofa Dream is premiering Jan 22 & 23, 2021, co-commissioned and presented by BAAD! in partnership with 651 ARTS as part of their Black Art Matters season. We are thrilled to partner with these two illustrious, POC-led and New York City-based organizations whom we deeply respect!
MBDance Fam, we sooo appreciate your generosity as early supporters of the development of this work and YOU can now host the artwork. We are moving outside of working only within traditional presenter/artist paradigms to think about HOSTS. Check out the possibilities HERE.
Please let us know what you think! www.desire.maria66.sg.com This artwork is all about how to BE, together, better. You are a great example of doing that with us in various ways; thank you.
SHOUTS OUT to Ashley Phillips and Blerd Bytes for creating our Desire website. Check them out at www.blerdbytes.com!
